MODERN ADAPTATIONS OF PERIOD GARDENS

Session 5 of the 2015 Home Gardening Lecture Series
Design elements and planting styles of earlier periods can be adapted to contemporary gardens.Magda Salvesen will highlight gardens and estates currently planted in their original styles, based on her garden guide book Exploring Gardens and Green Spaces from Connecticut to the Delaware Valley.These gardens and grounds have historic interest and are appealing to modern day visitors.

Magda Salvesen, an author, is a garden and art historian. She has extensive teaching experience at NYBG, New School University, and teaches garden history at New York University.Magda is curator of the Jon Schueler Estate in NYC.

Directions to Chappaqua Library
From the Saw Mill River Parkway, take Exit 32. Continue to the light at Route 120. Turn left towards town and take a right onto Greeley Avenue. The Library is two blocks South on the left.Additional parking is available on the street or at the New Castle Town Hall across Greeley Avenue.


Fee

$15 per session ($18 at door) or $75 for entire 2015 Home Gardening Lecture Series
